This decision was made by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and announced in a recent notice, affecting thousands of employees across the country.

The Section 127 Educational Assistance Program, also known as the Employer-Provided Educational Assistance Program, has been in place since 1978 and has allowed employers to provide tax-free educational assistance to their employees. This assistance could be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies for undergraduate or graduate level courses. However, the program will no longer include student loan reimbursement as an eligible expense after December 31, 2025.
