CINCINNATI (WXIX) -Cincinnati Children’s Hospital organized a prom for its teenage patients, aged 14 to 18, on Saturday night.

Organizers dubbed the occasion the “Met Gala: Med Chic.”

“This had been a dream of mine for probably about six years, and a lot of our patients don’t get the chance to go to prom. Not all of them, but for some, due to their medical complexities, it’s tough for them to make it to their normal prom that other, typical teenagers get to do,” Organizer Kevin Altimier said.

Altimier says that the staff and donations enabled the prom to occur at the Sabin Auditorium inside the hospital’s main Burnet campus.

Organizers say Kenzie’s Closet and Men’s Warehouse provided dresses and suits to the patients.

It was a night the patients will never forget.

“I guess I’d just say that this is really awesome and I’m glad that they pulled this together for these kids because it feels like everyone is having a good time, so I’m just happy that I’m here,” attendee Gianna said.

In addition to the music, the event showcased animals from the Cincinnati Zoo, hosted a Kendra Scott bracelet-making workshop, and provided food from Cassano’s Pizza.
