
The Portuguese band NAPA and their song ‘Deslocado’ concluded the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in 21st place. The event took place in Basel, Switzerland, with Portugal scoring a total of 50 points. The question arises: Who awarded points to Portugal, and which countries received votes from Portugal?
The evening’s top honor went to Austria, where JJ and their song ‘Wasted Love’ amassed a total of 436 points. The top five was rounded out by Israel with 357 points, Estonia with 356, Sweden with 321, and Italy with 256.
Of the total 50 points Portugal received, 37 were awarded by the jury and 13 came from the televoting.
Regarding the jury vote, it was announced during the broadcast that Portugal received one point from Albania, one point from Slovenia, two points from Switzerland, four points each from the Czech Republic and Ukraine, six points from Azerbaijan, Lithuania, and San Marino, and seven points from the Netherlands.
In terms of televote, it was revealed in the early hours of Sunday morning that viewers in France bestowed five points upon Portugal, while those in Luxembourg awarded eight points.
Which countries did Portugal vote for?
The Portuguese jury awarded Italy the maximum of 12 points, represented by Lucio Corsi with ‘Volevo Essere Un Duro’. This was followed by ten points for Switzerland (Zoe Me/’Voyage’), eight for Ukraine (Ziferblat/’Bird of Pray’), seven for Latvia (Tautumeitas/’Bur Man Laimi’), six for Austria (JJ/’Wasted Love’), five for the Netherlands (Claude/’C’est la Vie’), four for Albania (Shkodra Elektronike/’Zjerm’), three for Estonia (Tommy Cash/’Espresso Macchiato’), two for the United Kingdom (Remember Monday/’What the Hell Just Happened?’), and one point for Greece (Klavdia/’Asteromáta’).
In terms of televoting, Portuguese viewers allocated 12 points to Israel, represented by Yuval Raphael with ‘New Day Will Rise’, despite the controversies surrounding his participation due to the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Ten points went to Ukraine (Ziferblat/’Bird of Pray’) and eight to Italy (Lucio Corsi/’Volevo Essere Un Duro’). Following were seven points for Austria (JJ/’Wasted Love’), six for Spain (Melody/’Esa Diva’), five for France (Louane/’maman’), four for Sweden (KAJ/’Bara Bada Bastu’), three for the Netherlands (Claude/’C’est la Vie’), two for Albania (Shkodra Elektronike/’Zjerm’), and one point for Estonia (Tommy Cash/’Espresso Macchiato’).
And the semifinal results?
Portugal secured a place in the final last Saturday after being one of the ten countries to progress from the first semifinal of Eurovision on May 13. Despite bookmakers predicting that NAPA and ‘Deslocado’ would not reach the final, the band defied expectations, finishing in 9th place out of 15 countries with 56 points.
