Singaporean broadband provider launches coverage for hobbyists
In collaboration with HL Assurance, it is designed to cover high-value collectables.
MyRepublic, a fibre broadband provider in Singapore, has launched Geek Insurance, a specialised insurance product aimed at hobbyists, gamers, and collectors.
Developed in collaboration with HL Assurance, the product is designed to cover high-value collectables and gaming-related items that are typically excluded or minimally covered under standard home insurance policies.
Geek Insurance provides coverage for items such as trading card games, figurines, comic books, memorabilia, limited-edition merchandise, and personal electronic devices. It protects against loss, theft, and accidental damage within the home.
The product responds to growing demand from collectors who are investing significantly in their hobbies.
Plans start at $4.90 per month and offer up to $15,000 in coverage.
The offering includes a simplified claims process and competitive premiums.
Lawrence Chan, Managing Director and Chief AI Officer at MyRepublic Broadband, said the product aligns with the company’s identity and commitment to geek and gamer culture.
Kelvin Lim, CEO of HL Assurance, said the partnership enables them to serve a previously overlooked customer segment with tailored protection.
The company also announced plans to launch a broader home insurance product for customers seeking more comprehensive coverage for their property and belongings.
