One of the best credit card sign-up bonus offers we have ever seen is officially back on the market: qualified applicants for the Chase Sapphire Preferred can now earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards Points after spending $5,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening.
This limited-time offer is a whopping 40,000 points higher than its standard sign-up bonus offer, and given that this card is one of the most popular travel credit cards on the market, it is surely one that you will want to take advantage of while you can.
A Staple in Credit Card Rotations
The Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card packs quite a mighty punch and has cemented itself as a staple in credit card rotations for both beginners and experts alike. Its reasonable $95 annual fee doesn’t require customers to break the bank to have the card, and its generous bonus spending categories allow customers to quickly accrue large sums of points on purchases they make every day.

Cardholders can earn 3 points per dollar spent (3x) on dining, streaming, and online grocery purchases, 2x on travel purchases, 5x on Lyft and Peloton purchases, and 5x on travel bookings made through the Chase travel portal.
Additional Perks
On top of these spending categories, cardholders will also receive a 10 percent points boost based on their annual spending on every account anniversary and an annual $50 statement credit for hotels booked through the Chase travel portal. Not to mention, the card comes with extensive travel insurance coverage, including baggage delay and lost luggage reimbursement, primary rental car coverage, and trip interruption or cancellation insurance.

Chase Ultimate Rewards points are some of the most valuable points currencies on the market, thanks to Chase’s long list of airline and hotel partners that are regarded as some of the most popular in the industry. Its 11 airline partner programs include the likes of United MileagePlus, Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and they also partner with three major hotel groups in Marriott Bonvoy, World of Hyatt, and IHG One Rewards.
Maximizing Redemption Value
While using your points to book travel through the Chase travel portal gives you a fixed rate of 1.25 cents per point (pegging the value of your bonus at $1,250), transferring your points to one of these airline or hotel partners can allow you to eclipse this valuation mark when redeeming easily.
The current 100,000-point sign-up bonus can unlock some incredible aspirational experiences that may be out of budget for most travelers.

Take for example Lufthansa’s coveted First Class cabin in the nose of their Boeing 747-8s; a one-time experience that will often be priced north of $10,000; this seat can be booked through Air Canada’s Aeroplan for 100,000 points if traveling between Frankfurt and most of the U.S. Or perhaps a three-night stay at the luxurious Park Hyatt in St. Kitts, where nightly off-peak rates can run for well over $1,000, that you can book for just 75,000 points for the entire stay.
While there has not yet been an end date announced for this current promotion, this is only the second time we have seen an offer this high for the Chase Sapphire Preferred in the 15 years since the card was launched, back in the summer of 2021, new applicants could earn 100,000 points for only $4,000 in spending.
Eligibility and Application Process
The 2021 promotion only lasted for a couple of months, so we anticipate this current offer will not be around for long. Those eligible for the sign-up bonus include brand-new Sapphire applicants and cardholders who have not received a sign-up bonus from a Sapphire card (either the Preferred or Reserve) within the last 48 months.
Keep in mind that you cannot have multiple Sapphire cards open at once, so current Sapphire cardholders who are eligible to receive another bonus would have to product change into a lower-tier Chase card (such as the Freedom or Freedom Flex) to be able to be approved for a new Sapphire card.
