Regi Salillari, 28, of Albania, jailed for drug offences in Stowmarket and Ipswich

A man who tried to fool police by showing a fake driving licence before they found bags of cocaine hidden in his underwear has been jailed.

Regi Salillari, 28, of Albania, was stopped by officers while driving in the Thorney Way area of Stowmarket on January 29.

After he presented a counterfeit Italian driving licence, officers searched him and found four bags of cocaine hidden in his underwear along with more than £500 in cash.

After his arrest, officers searched an address in Ipswich where they discovered £20,000 worth of uncut cocaine and more than £1,000 in cash.

Salillari was charged and remanded for various offences — including possession with intent to supply cocaine, driving with no insurance and possessing a fraudulent document with the intent to deceive.

Salillari appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on March 26 where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 38 months in prison.

PC Harry Tully, from the West Sentinel team, said: “Salillari came to Stowmarket with the sole intention of supplying Class A drugs in the town.

“When intercepted by officers he attempted to deceive them by proving false details and producing fake documents which he had clearly gone to some lengths to obtain.

“Fortunately, the tenacious officers quickly saw past this elaborate ruse and he was arrested.

“We will continue to proactively target those involved in organised crime wherever they might be in our county.”
