Iliopoulos: Gov't unable to protect the citizens

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance's spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos accused the government of "an inability to defend the safety of, justice for or the interests of the social majority," while at the same time being "fully capable of defending the interests of the few," in an interview with radio "Sto Kokkino" on Friday.

"In the midst of the pandemic, the private sector remained fully in the clear, the government does not legislate for education except in the interests of private colleges, in labour issues it legislates only in the interests of SEV and it does the same for the private insurance companies, ignoring workers and pensioners," he added.

Commenting on the current bout of severe weather affecting the country, Iliopoulos underlined that "in a series of crises, the government has been incapable of protecting the citizens - from rain to the fires in the summer, from the pandemic to the energy crisis we are experiencing.
