Australia's MotoGP star Jack Miller has finished second in qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix behind his Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

Italian Bagnaia claimed a second consecutive pole when he set the all-time lap record in qualifying on Saturday.

Bagnaia, who claimed his maiden triumph last weekend at the Aragon Grand Prix, set a lap time of 1:31.065 to pip his Queensland teammate Miller in second 0.249sec adrift.

World championship leader Fabio Quartararo will start third on the grid in Sunday's 14th round of the 18-round championship.

The qualifying session featured numerous crashes, with Petronas Yamaha's Valentino Rossi going off the track in Q1 while Honda's Marc Marquez and Quartararo went off in Q2.
