Chester F. Fossett turned 90 years of age on May 26.

A lifelong resident of Boothbay Harbor, Chester graduated from Boothbay Harbor High School in 1947 and Maine Maritime Academy in 1950. Chester married Alice Trask in 1954 and they have four children, Elaine, Brian, John and Jim, and  now have 10 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

He shipped out for many years as a first assistant engineer before coming home from sea to join the John Hancock Insurance Company. His many volunteer activities over the years have included the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church, Maine Republican Party and Maine Red Cross, Rotary, local school board, and Lincoln County political offices.  He served as Lincoln County Registrar of Probate for over 40 years retiring at age 85.

Chester lost Alice, the love of his life, after 64 and a half years of marriage in early 2019.
