Area Golf News: Reichert Bus returns to top

Dan Vickerman and Curt Baier Jr. each collected nine points May 17 to drive Reichert Bus back to the front of the men's league standings at Cragun's Legacy Courses.

Dan Vickerman and Curt Baier Jr. each collected nine points May 17 to drive Reichert Bus back to the front of the men's league standings at Cragun's Legacy Courses.

Todd Ringler added eight points for Reichert Bus, which defeated People's Security 29-15 to secure a .25-point lead over Select Therapy, which grabbed a 29.5-14.5 victory over Deerwood Bank.

Big Wood is in third place after topping The Tee Hive 28-16.

Breezy Point women

Gloria Thomas, Kathy McTague, Joan Burnett and LInda McIntosh tied two other teams for first to open the Breezy Point Resort women's league play May 17.

The team of Sue Skinner, Verna Miller, Bugs Schmidt and Martha Polsfuss also finished first with the the team of Sandy O'Day, Polly Aumock, Janie Pommer and Carol Piaske.

League play Thursday, May 24, will be at the Traditional Golf Course.

Whitefish men

Don Skalman, Mike Finley and Dean Brandt captured the May 15 team event for the Whitefish men's league.

Teams used two scores from par 5s, three scores from par 4s and four scores from par 3s.

Second place went to Denny Nybo, Thomas Boyce, John Bruner and John Larsen. Ron Meyer, Rocky Wilske, Gary Kipling and Roger Tietz finished third.

Kipling and Boyce were closest to the pin and Arlen Stensby and Dale Frandsen made the longest putts.

Whitefish women

Barb Holubar's 70 captured the first flight title of the low net individual event May 17 for the Whitefish women's 18-hole League.

Pat Kline and Joan Kantos tied for second with 71s and Myra Faust and Anita Stensby tied for fourth

Pat McKee shot a net 65 to win the second flight. Joi Brandt's 69 landed her in second followed by Nancy Schmidt and Cheryl Bontrager in third with 72s. Ginny Sitzer placed fifth with a 74.

Stensby, Bontrager and new member Joyce Fleck carded birdies.

The 9 a.m., Thursday, May 24 event will be a team game.
