MORRIS PLAINS – Weichert, Realtors successfully raised $170,000 in donations for the American Cancer Society to fund breast cancer research during its 16th Annual Charity Golf Outing. Proceeds from the event bring the grand total that Weichert has raised for the society to more than $1 million since the annual fundraiser began in 2001.

The Pink & Bloom Foundation will host its annual Hakuna Matatas 6th Anniversary Brunch against Breast Cancer from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Gusto Grill.

Held annually at the picturesque Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, the event drew more than 240 golfers and other participants this year. They enjoyed a buffet luncheon, three-hour cocktail reception/buffet, prizes and awards. More than 40 volunteers helped make this event a success. TV and radio personality Bill Spadea was the master of ceremonies for the evening event, which also included a silent auction.

Additionally, in the spirit of the occasion, special guest speaker and breast cancer survivor Danielle Ricci shared her story of survival with the numerous attendees and encouraged them to make generous contributions toward the cause so that others like her may successfully finish their fight with cancer.

“This year’s golf outing marked an important milestone of more than $1 million raised during Weichert, Realtors’ 16-year journey to help fund breast cancer research,” said Jacelyn Botti, head of residential sales for Weichert, Realtors. “I was also pleased to see participation rise to a new level. Not only did we see dedicated involvement in gift giving, golfers and volunteers, but I am also incredibly proud of our sales offices and the hundreds of people who participated across multiple states to support the cause by holding their own unique events to raise additional funds toward our effort.”
