Kiwis can now fly on their insurance with AIA and Airpoints

Auckland, 1 May 2018.

For the first time, New Zealanders can earn Airpoints Dollars™ on their premiums when they purchase risk insurance products.

This follows the announcement that AIA New Zealand has become a category-exclusive partner of Air New Zealand’s highly-regarded Airpoints programme.

From today, clients who buy an eligible AIA product will be able to earn one Airpoints Dollar for every $100 of premium they pay on an AIA policy for that product.

But to launch the partnership, AIA is offering clients who buy an eligible AIA product between May 1st, 2018 and October 31st 2018 the opportunity to earn 3 Airpoints Dollars for every $100 dollars of premium paid during that period in relation to the eligible AIA products.

“From today, anyone purchasing an eligible AIA risk insurance product will be able to redeem their Airpoints Dollars to enjoy holidays here or overseas with Air New Zealand or its Star Alliance partner airlines, or dine out, or buy products including wine and electronics, through the Airpoints Store,” says AIA’s Head of Product and Marketing, and Acting Head of Distribution, David Savidan.

“And of course as well as enjoying the immediate benefits of our Airpoints partnership, our clients will be able to enjoy the ongoing benefit of the peace of mind that comes from being insured with a member of the AIA Group, the second-largest insurer of its type in the world,” David Savidan says.

He says the partnership with Airpoints is consistent with the company’s overall approach to providing insurance cover.

“During the almost four decades that AIA has operated in New Zealand, AIA has earned a reputation for bringing to market innovative insurance products that meet the real-life needs of New Zealanders.

“AIA is continuing in that vein by being the first company of its type to give its clients access to the benefits of New Zealand’s best loyalty programme, via their insurance,” David Savidan says.

Air New Zealand General Manager Loyalty Mark Street says: “The addition of AIA to the programme is good news for members, offering them yet another convenient way to earn Airpoints Dollars and get flying faster.”

Air New Zealand’s Airpoints programme has more than 2.8 million members.
